From sound waves to saved lives: 40 frontline clinicians trained and we're only halfway there
A single ultrasound scan can be the turning point between uncertainty and life-saving care. Through Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), frontline healthcare workers learn to recognise major pregnancy complications early, allowing mothers with high-risk pregnancies to be identified and referred before it is too late.

We are proud to annouce that we have reached the halfway point of our annual POCUS training schedule!
Thanks to your continued support, 160 local healthcare workers have now completed the program and are taking their vital diagnostic skills back to their health facilities.

"It reminds me why I became a Midwife"
By Tracy Cockburn, Midwife Sonographer
This was my second trip to Kenya with Rainbow for Africa UK, and once again, it has left a lasting impression on me.
The POCUS workshop trains healthcare professionals in basic ultrasound skills. Spotting early complications, breech presentation, or low-lying placenta can mean the difference between life and death for these women, yet most women in Kenya will never receive a single scan during pregnancy.
Coming from an NHS background where pregnancy ultrasound is standard care, seeing how many Kenyan women go without this is truly eye opening. Working alongside such a dedicated team of volunteers and seeing the patients gratitude reminds me exactly why I became a midwife, and why I will keep coming back.
